કોનો વાંક? Imagine
કોનો વાંક? આવાં શીર્ષકો પાંચ-છ દાયકા પહેલાંની નવલકથાઓમાં આવતાં હતાં. દિવ્ય ભાસ્કરની ગયા રવિવારની પૂર્તિનું પહેલું પાનું વાંચીને એવો જ સવાલ થાયઃ પેપર તેની સામાન્ય અવસ્થામાં- એટલે કે ગડી વાળેલું પડ્યું હોય, ફક્ત ઉપરનું અડધીયું દેખાતું હોય તો તેમાં શું વંચાય છે, તે ઉપરની તસવીરમાં જુઓઃગુણવંતભાઇના લેખનું મથાળું ‘આજની રાત, ફેસલાની રાત’ હોય એવું એમાં લાગે. નીચે રાખી સાવંતનું કપાયેલું મોં દેખાય અને એની પર હેડીંગ હોય, ‘ચંચલ મેરે મનમેં, મોહન મુરલીધારી’. એટલે કોઇ પણ સહજ એવું લાગે કે ગુણવંતભાઇએ તેમની મનનીય શૈલીમાં રાખી સાવંતના સ્વયંવરને કૃષ્ણના રોમેન્ટીસીઝમ સાથે જોડીને એકાદ પીસ ફટકાર્યો હશે. તેમાં ‘આજની રાત ફેસલાની રાત’નો અર્થ ન સમજાય, પણ મથાળાં ન સમજાવાની વાચકો માટે ક્યાં નવાઇ હોય છે? અને સજાવટ જરા ‘હેવી’ કે ‘ગોડી’ લાગે, પણ લે-આઉટના અતિરેક માટે જાણીતા ભાસ્કર માટે તેના વાચકોના મનમાં એવી નવાઇ પણ ન રહી હોય.
પૂર્તિ આખી ખોલ્યા પછી જ રહસ્યોદ્ઘાટન થાય કે આ તો રાખી સાવંતના સ્વયંવરની જાહેરા
તની વચ્ચે ગુણવંતભાઇના મેટરનું કચુંબર કરવામાં આવ્યું છે. એમાં ગુણવંતભાઇનો કશો વાંક નહીં. એ તો પીડિત કહેવાય. ભાસ્કરનો પણ શો વાંક? બીજાં છાપાંએ પણ તક મળી હોત તો આવું કર્યું જ હોત. ‘ટાઇમ્સ ઓફ ઇન્ડિયા’ એમાં અતિઉત્સાહી છે અને બીજાં છાપાં પણ બહુ પાછળ નથી. સવાલ પ્રતિબદ્ધતા કરતાં વધારે તકનો છે.યાદ આવે છે કે ટાઇમ્સ ઓફ ઇન્ડિયાની રવિવારની પૂર્તિ અત્યારના સ્વરૂપે શરૂ થઇ ત્યારે તેમાં ઉપરના અડધા પાનામાં આશા ભોસલેનો લેખ સીધો અને નીચેના અડધા ભાગમાં તે ઉલટો (પેપર ઊંઘું પકડીને વાંચો તો ચત્તો વંચાય એવો) છાપવામાં આવ્યો હતો, કારણ કે અંદર એ મતલબની જાહેરખબર હતી! થોડા સમય પહેલાં એક મોબાઇલ કંપનીના ટાવરના ચાર કોલમની કલરસ્કીમ પ્રમાણે પહેલા પાનાના સમાચારના ફોન્ટના રંગ કરવામાં આવ્યા હતા. ટાઇમ્સની રવિવારની પૂર્તિમાં કયું મેટર છે ને કઇ જાહેરખબર, એ નક્કી કરવાની હજુ પણ ફાવટ આવતી નથી. છાપાના પહેલા પાને આખી જાહેરખબર હોય અને છાપું અંદરથી શરૂ થતું હોય તેની પણ નવાઇ છાપાં માટે રહી નથી.
લાગે છે કે વાંક આપણો જ છે. આપણે છાપાને બહુ છાપરે ચડાવીએ છીએ અને તેની પાસેથી બહુ અપેક્ષાઓ રાખીએ છીએ. તેને કોપરેલ, વેજિટેબલ ઘી કે લસણની તૈયાર ચટણી જેવું ગણી શકતા નથી.

આવું અમેરિકાના જાણીતા મેગેઝીનો કે છાપાઓમાં થતું જોયું નથી. કોઈ એડ અને કોલમ કે ન્યુઝ વચ્ચે બહુ લાંબો તફાવત ના હોય ત્યારે ત્યાં સ્તષ્ટતાકરેલી હોય કે આ એડવરટાઈઝમેન્ટ છે. ખાસ કરીને વિવિધ દવાઓની એડમાં.
ReplyDeleteઉર્વીશભાઈ, હું તો છાપું જોઈને ચમક્યો હતો, ને મેં માની લીધું હતું કે ગુણવંત શાહ પણ હવે જય વસાવડા ને કાન્તિ ભટ્ટ ટાઈપના રવાડે ચડ્યા કે શું? અને પાનું ફેરવી લીધું હતું. આ તો તમારો આ પીસ વાંચ્યા પછી માલૂમ પડ્યું કે સાલુ આમાં તો આવુ હતું. મારુ તો હસી હસીને પેટ દુ:ખી ગયું. ગુણવંતભાઈને કોયલના ટહુકા ય કાગડા જેવા લાગતા હશે રવિવારે તો કારણકે એ તો બહુ જ ઈમેજ કોન્શ્યસ માણસ છે. જબરી થઈ બાપુ, મજા આવી ગઈ...અને એમાંય ચંચલ મેરે મનમેં કોહન મુરલીધારી તો બરાબર ફીટ બેસે છે.

ReplyDeletePeople rarely care to look deep into, let alone- to think on that matter to find out the wrong (pl do not expect to point this out to the paper!!!)
Last month I wrote one long piece of mail to divya bhaskar, knowing well in advance that they will not respond back (didnt expect them to public a single line of that mail,narurally!!)
Without malice to Mr Amin, when he didnt had courage to look into piece, he has no right to judge others on same thinking like his.I think he has judges other's writings on same manner (looking at it only, without going into it).Let me make it clear, I am not ardent fan of anyone writer but, we should give due credit to all what they are doing atleast, not like us writing only comments and then forget.
sorry, Envy. Anyone who write should not, by virtue of his/her activity, should be given due credit. OR going by the same yardstick, every professional should get due credit. Writers are not from Mars or Moon. They do much disservice when they go awry.

Urvish, you have point here that no one should be given credit just for doing some work,right. My point was, we should not judge someone without going deep in the work.

ભઈ અમારા કડવા પટેલની જબાન કડવી જ. પણ વસાવડા અને ભટ્ટ સાહેબનો તો પૂરેપૂરો આદર છે. મારો કહેવાનો મતલબ એમ હતો કે જય વસાવડા અને કાન્તિ ભટ્ટ ફિલ્મો અને ટીવીનુ અવારનવાર લખે છે પણ ગુણવંત શાહ મોટાભાગે નથી લખતા. તો રાખી સાવંતનો ફોટો એમના લેખની બાજુમાં જોઈને મને થયું કે શું ગુણવંતભાઈ પણ હવે આવુ લખવા માંડ્યા કે કેમ? બસ આટલી અમથી વાત છે. એમાં જયભાઈ અને કાન્તિભાઈ કે એમના વાંચકો, શુભેચ્છકો કુપા કરીને દુભાય નહી પ્લીઝ.

ReplyDeletefor your info, Gunvant shah do write about film and even if he do not write on the subject, it does not make him Giant or God. If other writers write on the subject- do not make them low caliber.
Your fault is you issued judgement without taking pain to see what actually is on the page!! When, Urvish writes about it, you take notice!!
Sorry, no ill feeling to you and no special feeling to any writer. Just I like to speak out my mind and thoughts..sorry, if you feel bad.
